Oats Dosa

With schools out for summer I am always on the lookout for quick, nutritious and easy to make meals and this oats dosa recipe fits the bill perfectly. My family enjoys these dosas and I have been making them for many years now.

Oats Dosa is a savoury oats crepe. Oats are super healthy, offer a host of health benefits and are well known for their fibre content which helps to keep the infamous cholesterol in check. I love these dosas, they are delicious, very easy to make and can be made at short notice as the recipe does not need any soaking, grinding or fermenting. I love such recipes, just mix a few ingredients and your dosas are ready !

Here is the recipe for the dosas. Try it out and I am sure you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup Quaker quick cooking oats
  • 1/4 cup semolina
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 2 tbsp plain low fat yogurt
  • 3 green chilies minced
  • 1/4 cup cilantro chopped fine
  • 1/2 onion diced
  • 2 cups water (approx)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Method
  • In a bowl mix oats, rice flour and semolina.
  • Add the yogurt, onions, chilies, cilantro, salt and pepper.
  • Add water and mix  to make a batter.
  • Heat a skillet and add a few drops of oil.
  • Pour the batter on the skillet with a ladle and spread it in circular motion to make a round dosa.
  • Flip over when one side is cooked and cook the other side till browned.
  • Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
You can add vegetables of your choice or add some cumin powder and red chili powder to the batter for a variation in flavour.
