Baked Bean Wrap

I love baked beans and enjoy them with toast for an occasional weekend breakfast. I love these perfectly cooked beans in tomato sauce. Though, I am not a big fan of canned products and rarely use them, these baked beans are an exception.

Baked beans with toast was the only combination I had ever heard of and eaten till I saw celebrity Indian chef Sanjeev Kapoor make these baked bean wraps on his TV show Khana Khazana. I fell in love with the idea immediately, it was such an interesting variation to the regular baked beans on toast.

I adapted his idea and made my own additions to make these delicious wraps. These wraps can be made in a jiffy, involve no cooking and are healthy and delicious. What more can one ask for? I make these wraps for dinner when I don't feel like cooking but still want to put together a healthy meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 can Heinz baked beans (I used the vegetarian version)
  • Whole wheat tortillas
  • Lettuce
  • 1 avocado diced
  • Low fat sour cream
  • Grated cheese (optional)
  • Diced onions (optional)
  • Sriracha sauce

Method

  • Heat the baked beans in a sauce pan.
  • Warm the tortilla. Then put the lettuce, baked beans, diced avocados, onions, sour cream, grated cheese and sriracha sauce on the tortilla.
  • Roll up and enjoy.
You can leave out the Sriracha sauce or replace it with any sauce of your choice. You can also add paprika or red chilli powder to the beans itself and completely leave out the sauce.I did not have grated cheese on hand and my family prefers to leave out the raw onions hence they are missing in the above picture.
